June 1 is a happy day for us:
• Kentucky officially became the 15th state in the union in 1792.
• Elizabeth Honeywood Parrish was born on this date in 1898 to Desdemona Wingate Parrish and Isaac Williams Parrish on the Leavy Place, their farm on the Midway-Georgetown Road, which is almost in view of the Holly Hill Inn.
We humbly note the birth of our namesake, a woman renowned for her friendly and welcoming manner. Honeywood the restaurant has been open one month, and we celebrate that milepost with gratitude for the community's support and promise to always strive to live up to her gold standard of Kentucky hospitality.
